STRATO UNVEILS AWARD-WINNING HAUTE COUTURE KITCHEN COLLECTIONS
ON HONG KONG STOPOVER OF GLOBAL TOUR




Haute-couture Italian kitchen designer STRATO launched its award-winning luxury kitchen collections in Hong Kong on July 5. Hong Kong is chosen as the first stop of a STRATO Global Tour Exhibition and headlined by its new ‘Semplice’ (meaning ‘Simplicity’) design which won a Best of Milan Design Week Award 2012. The Founders of STRATO, Marco Gorini and Gianna Farina, attended the exhibition opening at Strato Showroom located at Wong Chuk Hang and had an informative exchange with the HKIDA members and design students on this very special occasion. Marco shared how the award-winning “Semplice” collection demonstrates the absolute mastery of “one block” design, flowing seamlessly between one material and another and how it intertwined with artistic expression. Guest Speakers Anna Cheng and Dr. Chan L. K. also shared their amazing works in that marvelous evening. The ultimate kitchens “for those who run away from the ordinary” would be showcased in a dedicated exhibition at STRATO Showroom running for three months, and each masterpiece is worth HK$4million and above. Don’t miss it!

NEW BOOK LAUNCHING – BEST 10 – 19th ASIA PACIFIC INTEIOR DESIGN AWARDS

HKIDA EDUCATION PROGRAM 2012  


Further to the visit to Tai O Heritage Hotel and students’ presentation on their findings, the education program of “World Interiors Day” (WID) themed “Finding the New in the Old” has come to the third stage. Special thanks to the participating design companies, including Design Othering Co., Ltd., Joey Ho Design Ltd., PAL Design Consultants Ltd. and Marc & Chantal Design Ltd., who kindly motivate the students to create contemporary architectural installation that aim in providing people with unique spatial experiences within the urban context of Hong Kong. The education committee also has tentative plan to showcase those installations in an exhibition for public appreciation in October.

182 DESIGN PARK – NEWS UPDATE
The Dean of the School of Design at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Professor Cees de Bond, and his delegation visited 182 Creative Design Industrial Park
Professor Cees de Bond of the School of Design at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Dr. Luo Xuan, Ms. Chen Minyi, and Professor Bai Honghai visited the 182 Creative Design Industrial Park at the invitation of its General Manager Ms. Wang Wei Jun on 12 June. Blueprints and Development for the Park were discussed by the participants. 182 Creative Industry Park has been strongly supported by Shenzhen Municipal Government. The total construction scale would be nearly 2 million square feet once completed. 182 Creative Park will bring together domestic and international firms in one setting, and will have important influence on Shenzhen design industry.

Professor Cees de Bond visited “Creatalent Center”, and said “Creatalent Force” is not only a stage of the creative design young people, but also the communication and exchange platform between Shenzhen, Hong Kong and overseas designers. Professor Cees de Bond also visited some companies who had been settled in the Park, and exchanged the opinion in terms of design, management idea, business development and gave many valuable advices.

On July 16, 182 Creative Design Industrial Park Managing Director Ms. Wang Weijun was invited by Mr Bai Zhong Hai to the Hong Kong Polytechnic University Shenzhen Academe School to do research studying. After in-depth discussions and research, 182 Creative Design Industrial Park and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (Shenzhen) had reached a number of cooperation projects.

With “Creatalent Force” launching ceremony signals that 182 Creative Design Industrial Park will continue to attrack top-notch professional and creative talents, and become an important centre for the creativity industry in the region.
